Comprag ADX adsorption dryers are a highly efficient means of removing moisture from compressed air. They are able to maintain a constant pressure dew point of -40 °C. Adsorption dryers comprise two columns of large diameter filled with the optimum amount of moisture adsorbing desiccant. Compressed air enters alternately into the columns, and moves at a moderate speed with a relatively high contact time with the desiccant, during which moisture in the air is adsorbed. When the desiccant in one column is fully charged, the compressed air flow switches over to the other column, which then takes over the function of removing moisture. Columns are equipped with heaters to regenerate the desiccant. ADX adsorption columns are equipped with high-quality functional-governmental valves, with a long service life. Switching between columns and regeneration of desiccant is controlled by an electronic controller, with a alternating period of 10 minutes.

Optimal 10 minute cycle duration

Comprag Adsorption dryers work at their optimal working point with a cycle duration of 10 minutes. Reducing the number of cycles of dehydration-blowing reduces the operational burden on receivers, valves and desiccant. In addition, a long cycle reduces the loss of air pressure during restoration of operating pressure in the receiver after a regeneration cycle. A two-minute drying cycle using dry compressed air to purge the column being regenerated consumes momentarily about 7.5% of the dry compressed air. Comprag ADX adsorption dryers functioning in a ten-minute cycle use on average only about 1% of the total amount of purified air.
